  •  How wonderful! (8+ / 0-)

I had no idea she was taught in primary school. Did you perhaps grow up in New England?

    •  Until halfway through second grade. (5+ / 0-)

Which was already my third school.  I went to Catholic schols in CY until we moved to FL  and attended parochial schools in Miami (that 3rd grade teacher hated me  and made that year absolute hell).  My lovely 2nd grade teacher in CT was a wonderful Irish  leprechaun of a nuin who looked like the illos for the original Mary Poppins books and sounded like music with her brogue from Letterkenny. We stayed in touch with her for many years--she sent me a present for my wedding in 1977, twenty years later. SHe had more charm than 3 people had a right to.

U was likely hell to teach. In second grade I was reading at a 6th grade level. By 7th grade I was reading at the elvel of a sophomore in college. I read fast and accurately which meant I finished work  way ahead of evryone else and was profoundly bored.  Luckil;y this nun and some thers simply let me pull out a book and read isntead of giving me more work just to keep me busy,

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
