I got to know Red Hook this summer on a NEH seminar on Brooklyn's Industrial Waterfront.  It's a neigborhood I didn't know much about since my grandparents lived in East Flatbush and in the 1960s you took the 7th Avenue Express to Manhattan from there. I deleted most of my pictures by accident, but I managed to salvage this one of the grain elevator and IKEA:

I thought Red Hook was the highlight of the seminar (it also included the Navy Yard, Coney Island and Dumbo), especially Louis Valentino Jr. Park which is really a hidden gem on the harbor. I hope the neighborhood can be made whole soon, and thank you SO much for helping it on its way there.
