    To equate workers/labor standing up for better wages and benefits with people not recognizing the importance of shopping. It doesn't cost anything to be a smart consumer. Very few things piss me off more then large multinational entities crying poor.

    There are plenty of ways in which we could reduce the cost of American made goods. Places like Walmart work hard to prevent this though. They are the ones at fault, not the worker who wants a raise and healthcare.

    Progress and change are not exclusive to the East and West coast. Plenty of progressives in the midwest. I doubt you intended it, but statements like that are pretty offensive. I can assure you that we are working hard here in the midwest to bring about change. Frankly, it feels like something might be brewing here, people are starting to drift away from consumerism and flag waving and starting to focus on community again.
