  •  every state should have data easily available (10+ / 0-)

just like California does, thanks to our Dem Secretary of State. No reason why not.  And the people should ask for it, now that it's become normal for so many late-counted, late-reported ballots.

Thanks to Markos for reporting the updated numbers.

It would be a great project for somebody on the Daily Kos staff to gather the "election must be certified by" dates for each state. My guess is no states are later than California's "30 days after the election" -- a quick look shows Ohio's is "21 days after the election." Usually in my county we hear final local results the week before the Monday deadline.

And to research how many states DO have proper reporting tools like California's Estimated Unprocessed Ballot Status Report and the County Reporting Status page, which has a grand total of ballots reported so far.

If enough important states / late counting states do have proper reporting tools, somebody could make a widget thing (like the inaccurate Google one that seemed to be based on the "100 percent" reporting notice on Election Night) that reports numbers from THOSE sources, which are frequently updated.

I am thankful for our wonderful Secretary of State, Debra Bowen, for getting internet-based voter registration up and operational in time for this election.  It was probably a deciding factor in several races, especially with Prop 30 on the ballot.

Jon Husted is going to get his ass kicked out of office in 2014.

I was trying to be diplomatic before but now that my board of elections stint ended yesterday I will say it:

Jon Husted is a dick. He spent our tax dollars pursuing the right to disenfranchise a handful of provisional voters for a pollworker mistake when it didn't even count anymore and the number is way too small to make a difference. Why? Probably just to show he is so powerful he can take people's vote away for no reason. And because he is a dick.

This man will be governor over my dead body.
