      it's also worth noting that the bombings and gunman attacks on coptic churches around tahrir square ceased the moment that the square was occupied by the muslim brotherhood and leftist youth protesters.

      it was a curious parallel with the pattern of violent attacks on ethnic chinese in indonesia before and after suharto fell from power. there's an element of "apres moi, le deluge" to it all.
