is not ready to be a heartbeat from the presidency. no matter how smart or capable, it's a different league. no one has even jumped from the house to the white house since garfield.

    •  if he ran for Senate in 2014... (2+ / 0-)

...it's possible Castro would be a senator at that time...

      •  He'd never beat Cornyn, it is Texas down here (1+ / 0-)

y'all. No recent Dem Senate candidates have pulled much more than 40%.
I read a diary about a state having some counties that voted 55-70% Rmoney/Rethug (WI IIRC).
That ain't nothin'. Lots of Texas counties (and we do have lots of counties, 254) just went 70-96% for those losers. My own was ~75% Red, as usual.
There's been talk of a Castro run for Governor, but I doubt it. As bad as Herr Perry is (and never had a majority IIRC and still the longest serving TX guv), when it got down to nut-cuttin' the Rs would all fall in line.

Every time Cornyn votes for something against the interest of the average Texan, an ad needs to go out--very clear--with its impact.

It's likely that if there hadn't been ~600,000 provisional ballots in Arizona, the Dem would have won the senate.

And what needs to happen is a really progressive candidate for Governor. (Perhaps listing him/herself as Independent, in order to avoid the knee-jerk stuff, and the Dems should sit back and let it happen.)

          •  I agree, but it doesn't look like the Dems care to (0+ / 0-)

spend any money or effort in TX for the most part.
There was just an exception in the Gallego-Canseco race where each side carpet-bombed the airwaves, but such is rare.

an ad needs to go out

    •  Yeah. Like when John Edwards told us (5+ / 0-)

he could win 2008 because of his southern accent. Just putting a spanish name on the ticket wont do the trick if the person isn't qualified.

Lets see if Castro can win statewide first. I think its going to be a while. That family is just beginning to build its power.
