  •  I'll never forget my Mom screaming (4+ / 0-)

No, No, those sons of bitches, they fucking killed him.

I asked he what was wrong, she told me that President Kennedy had been shot and killed.

I was 5 yrs old. And I'll never forget the knowing tone of voice my Mom used, it was like she knew who was responsible on some gut level.

As a 5 year old, I knew the bad guys did it.

They didn't tell us why we were being sent home from school and I was delighted to be getting out early. Then I got into the car with my Mother and she had the turned on high. Someone was gabbling about the President and a hospital. I ask her what it meant. "Some damn fool has shot the President.

For me, at that moment, the world changed.

Nothing human is alien to me.
