    ...of external storage, it is true. However, there is also the fact that the 'soil' on which those aircraft stand is NOT slightly acidic (as most soils are), but alkaline. What that means is that during any of the brief periods of local precipitation, any moisture that makes contact with the aircraft AFTER hitting the soil (or condenses in wheelwells, etc.) will have a pH which will NOT cause corrosion to an appreciable extent.
