  •  A war on anything abstract-- (none)
poverty, fear, terror, etc., by its very nature cannot be fought with concrete (literal, physical) weapons and armed forces.

Trying to do so is a major logical fallacy--kinda like expecting to clean up television ads with laundry detergent.

Bush conflated the abstract and concrete enemies at least partly so he would have an excuse to pass taxpayer money to his friends at Halliburton, etc.

Hijack their frames! Cheap, easy, effective.

    •  just wanted to let you know (none)
that I really appreciated your diaries on the author Suzette Haden Elgin - She seems like a gifted and fascinating person - and I would like to read some of her science fiction when I get a chance.

Dems definitely need a major dose of this stuff. NOW.

    •  also (none)
What I was trying to respond to instead is the subtext - win war on terror = safer

we are less safe. people must feel less safe with two wars going on. I do.
