terribly waylaid by a depressive episode severe enough to land me in the hospital. I've taken some time off, and now I'm trying to regroup and decide what direction I want to take with my life, go back and finish or do something else.

I really enjoy programming, though. I've always wanted to know more about engineering. One thing that is great about programming, though, is that most people have a lot of what they need to learn about it already sitting on their desks. I can sit down and, not only concieve of, but make, a perfectly functional application that I and other people can use without spending a penny more than I already have.

In fact, I started down this road because one day, I went to the public library and got out a textbook on Java. I liked it so much I signed up for a class. That went so well, I applied for a master's program.

I'm about to embark on a little vacation. Hopefully, I'll be able to relax and think things over and come back home more energized.
