  •  Oh, the management can't be excused. (0+ / 0-)

    Not everyone can be.

Sorry. Probably shouldn't have gone off on completely intellectual view of this sort of thing. I do think it would be interesting to compare this man, who had a brain tumor, and his "humor" and its descent from cheap to bigotry with other shock jocks. I mean, honestly, that seems to be a common path. Limbaugh, Beck. Did this accelerate it? I mean brain tumors aren't sentient. They're not creating the personality. But where lies personality and judgment and boundaries? OK, yes, this is just a fascinating thing for me. It doesn't mean that the guy, no matter why his behavior is what it is should be on the radio.

Anyway, as I said, I'm not excusing anyone, not even the host. Just curious whether the brain tumor could have had an effect. Does nothing to explain why the management did nothing.

I'm not sure of the law on where the government can intervene. Sadly, I think more on "sex" (like almost unnoticeable unless TiVod nip slip) than on implied violence like this. I also think TV more strictly managed than radio.

    •  I really didn't get the indication that the brain (0+ / 0-)

tumor is being, or has been, considered to have been, pertinent to the discussion of his stunts and behavior.
It is just mentioned as some sort of milestone, because it was a big deal in terms of things that have happened to him, a life event. Like "lost a finger in a chain saw accident" or something. Bad example, but he was a jerk doing jerky things before and he still is.
Sounds like the tumor was just ( I am not minimalizing   brain surgery- very big deal- definite mentionable life event)
people in his home town reading the article would be saying, "Didn't he have brain surgery a few years ago?- Had it not been mentioned it would have been incomplete journalism.
You mention Limbaugh and Beck- they, (to my knowledge) haven't had brain tumors and they are jerks, so I feel it's fair to say that the three of them have a shared love of getting attention by saying and doing asinine things without need for pathological excuses.
As far as the law, from that list of occurrences, the shock jock sure walks the line as far as instigating incidences and such.
