  •  Great intro to diary. I sometimes think every (13+ / 0-)

one just gets the cancer thing.

I didn't lose so many friends as I realized how whacked some of mine were. If the point is to bring me dinner, bring me dinner, don't tell me "No, I'm not hungry I just ate".

And even if you think I need to go outside for a bit the day I have surgery, trust me I don't or the recovery room would be on a screened in porch.

I have been watching Parenhood where one of the characters has the same kind of cancer I do. I friend of mine in DC emails me after each show to see how I am.

On TV the character with cancer has a loving family who supports her. I had a sister who yelled at me. Honestly, when I told her I had cancer she started yelling at me. She yelled all through my treatment (thank goodness she is long distance).

Till finally I told her I couldn't talk to her anymore. I just couldn't take the stress.

Tracy B Ann - technically that is my signature.

    •  standing ovation for that alone (10+ / 0-)

it's overwhelming to be sick, and have the diagnosis on some weird cognitive loop in your mind, popping up in the middle of the night, or when you least want to think about it.

if our friends can't tolerate it, and some truly can't, it opens some doors, no?  you begin to wonder or i did, what kind of imaginary bubble they want to believe they live in.  your own sister, though?  i am sorry, ZT.  that would be really difficult to deal with.

    •  Sorry your sister isn't up to being your sister. (1+ / 0-)

It sucks to have people close let you down.
Clearly, it's her and not you. Sometimes that doesn't help as much as we might like, I realize.

I'm seeking to organize DKos members in SE Michigan--roughly, from the Ohio line at Lake Erie NE to Port Huron, W to Flint and back S from there. If you'd like to join our new group, Motor City Kossacks (working title), please Kosmail me.
