  •  Spader, John Hawkes and Tim Blake Nelson = awesome (9+ / 0-)

Great comic relief and it showed how lobbying and arm-twisting was done back in those days. Lot more dangerous than today (like when Spader almost gets shot by that one congressman he's trying to win over).

Although my funniest moment was when Lincoln's about to tell a story and Bruce McGill as Stanton goes, "No, no, you're going to tell a story, aren't you? Not now! I won't listen to another story now!"

    •  They were so good (0+ / 0-)

I didn't realize who they were until the credits.  (and I've met Nelson!)

The GOP: "You can always go to the Emergency Room."

    •  I like that they preface the attempted shooting... (0+ / 0-)

with Bilbo saying it like it was just a figure of speech, and then you see in flashback he actually tried to do it.

Simple question: In the years since Republicans successfully urged the disempowering of workers and unions in the Midwest, what has happened to those states economies?
