The thing that gets me is the treatment from the moms. They are genial at first, as if you're some sort of trained bear that learned how to wear pants on its own.

After the novelty wears off you get treated as if you're invading some sacred space. No question can come off as just exchanging parenting tips or ideas, its always your own incompetence as a father.

"Oh, well you know kids need a balanced diet right? They can't live off pizza and beer."

Really? Well shit, my 10 year old is going to get pretty surly without his nightly sixer of Milwaukee's Beast but I'll see what I can do.

"I can't let my kids come for a sleepover. Without a second parent around I just don't feel comfortable that they will be adequately supervised."

Cool. Good to know that I'm automatically a child molester. I'm sure your husband who's busy avoiding you and your kids at all costs and who's offered to sell me weed and coke on numerous occasions is fantastic as a responsible second parent.

"I sent some 'Mommy Meals' with my kids, they are really picky."

That's funny, every time I cook your kids always clean their plates. Must be all the pizza and beer I'm feeding them.

"Have you met my friend _____? She's great with kids"

That's cool. I'm sure her four previous husbands really enjoyed her clever wit and sophisticated charm. Though, it was hard to catch her name with the Marlboro hanging out of the side of her mouth.

you have more scrutiny on you than the WORST mom, just because you're a single dad.

I try not to get into the "Mommy debates" simply because I find that a lot of assumptions are made, usually the assumption that I've only been doing this a short time.

7 years, and you're still asked if you're making certain your daughter is combing her hair in the morning.

However, I'm not going to blame all moms, just that certain segment of the population that gets all of their opinions about single dads from TV.

I don't blame Christians. I blame Stupid. Which sadly is a much more popular religion these days.

Just the ones I'm forced to hang out with so my kids can have a normal social life.

I'm sure there are some moms out there that get it and would even applaud you for taking on the enormous responsibility, and I really wish they would be more vocal.

I can't tell you the number of times I've been looked at as if I have thirteen heads and seven arms when I present freshly baked and well decorated cupcakes or anything else that requires some skill in the kitchen. It ends up being a very soft revenge, I think.

Anyway, keep the faith and carry on. Fist bumps to you sir.
