What a powerful statement you make, when you say:

A country continuing to flex its muscle abroad while its homeland is slowly falling apart
I think the generations after us, if God grants us generations, will marvel that a television empire, owned by an Australian megalomaniac, was instrumental in the downfall of America.

Bubba bemoans the fact that his mother dies for lack of proper healthcare, and applauds Fox News when they criticize "Obamacare."

Bubba screams about the pothole-filled roads and crumbling bridges, but applauds when Fox News tells him government is evil and he should pay no taxes, and the stimulus program is bad, bad, bad.

Bubba can shop only at Walmart because he barely makes minimum wage, but hates the unions.

Bubba thinks it's fine that he pays 28% tax on his wages while Mitt Romney pays nothing, because Fox News tells him Mitt is a "job creator."  Bubba doesn't think to ask where the jobs are.

Bubba fails to see the irony when Carly Fiorina, who destroyed HP but still left with a multi-million dollar golden parachute, criticizes public employees and their paltry retirement program.

    And on and on....

    Fox News.  GOP.

It's Morning in America (and the GOP has a hangover).

We collectively yank our heads out of our asses, or else.

What is shocking to many Americans and Europeans is that we already know the history, the warning signs, the symptoms of an "empire in decline".

Over extended military, multi-fronted or multiple wars, oligarchies raiding government coffers, increasing government paranoia, which leads to invasive laws against it's own people [see Patriot act for starters].

And yet, we cannot stop it. Or should I say, that the GOP is unwilling to get out of the way so that these processes can be stopped.

This is all self inflicted. The EU knows it, I know it, many other Americans know it.

It begs the question why we don't stop hurting ourselves this way.

So far, no one has provided a rational answer.
