  •  Progressives are more likely to be online and (5+ / 0-)

interacting in fora through that medium, I'd wager.  Either that, or involved with local or state groups working for change.

That's one more thing to add to my long list of small problems. --my son, age 10

    •  Yes, from what I've seen "talk" radio (6+ / 0-)

seems to work well for three topics, RW politics, religion, and sports - all of which target people with a similar mindset (rah, rah  jingoism) albeit with potentially different interests (e.g., inane politics, god, and the home team, respectively).

For better or worse, (better IMHO) progressives just aren't like that

      •  Egad, I should have said "from what I've heard" (2+ / 0-)

talkers and their crews i've heard do a lot of research to keep  their audiences up on current events.

if you're doing physical work or driving around and want to keep up on current events and politics it's a useful medium.

the fact is a lot of the RW talk radio audience are not the hard core idiots- they want to get some politics and opinion before they get home to fight for the remote and could just as easily be listening to progressives if they were available. but they aren't.

the notion that 95% of talk radio listeners like being lied to and insulted and manipulated is wrong. that monopoly is not a real reflection of how many americans believe and agree with the limbaughs and hannitys. be design, it's the only thing on.

my parents used to get pissed at me for talking about talk radio and then they got a progressive station in the state and started listening when they were in the car doing chores.

i believe there are a lot of people like that.

This is a list of 76 universities for Rush Limbaugh that endorse global warming denial, racism, sexism, and partisan lying by broadcasting sports on Limbaugh radio stations.

Interestingly, there are a lot of under 40 listeners, which breaks the trend often cited for talk.
