  •  Black Friday, anyone? (9+ / 0-)

For some reason, Black Friday mayhem favors Wal-Marts.  Maybe it's the store's practice of attracting crowds of people to an imminent sale that night, making sure that they do not have enough of the item in stock, then encouraging their customers to fight over the item.

    •  I bought a TV from WalMart on Black Friday... (1+ / 0-)

      ...this year.

The store opened at 8 pm on Thanksgiving but the big-ticket items like the TV didn't go on sale until 10. So, anyone wanting the TV was in the store, in an orderly line, and they had over 200 of them.

You think they like the mayhem? It gives them bad publicity. From what I can see, with staggered sales and people in line with tickets inside the store, they are trying to minimize the mayhem.

"they are trying to minimize the mayhem"

Trying to minimize the mayhem by saturation advertising of much-lower-than-average sale prices on highly desired items but limited to one day and stock on hand?

No.  Walmart has nothing to do with creating the absurd frenzy that is Black Friday.  They're just innocent babes in the woods trying to serve 'Murca with LOW PRICES!!!!

Of course, a sick culture manipulated into the consumption fetish by Capitalistic greed has something to do with it too.
