  •  It is highly unlikely... (5+ / 0-)

...that Walmart has any policy other than "monitor and observe". I can't imagine that Walmart would encourage or allow any physical altercation to take place. Risk thousands of dollars in lawsuits to save a hundred bucks in merchandise?

From what I hear around here, Walmart doesn't exactly blow money pointlessly.

You missed a few zeroes there.

There are two types of corporate policy: Official policy and what the company tolerates.

If a company tolerates something repeatedly, what the company has written down in a pretty corporate policy binder somewhere means absolutely nothing.

If store managers are evaluated (and given bonuses) on loss/shrinkage/theft, and the managers from store to store across the nation each put pressure on their "Asset Protection" teams to crack down on it, then that is the corporate policy, regardless of what Corporate "officially" says.

And my guess is that right there is where the truth lies.

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.
