That much is undeniable. The man clearly has hate coursing through his veins.

Homosexuality is found in over 450 species. Homophobia is found in only one. Which one seems unnatural now?

    •  not to be argumentative (0+ / 0-)

(although I know it's walking a fine line here) it may be impulse control and anger issues. I've dealt, peripherally, with cases of veterans with extreme cases of PTSD who have beaten people to within inches of their life. Hate isn't the only cause of unreasoning violence.

      •  Isn't this whole tangent coming under the (0+ / 0-)

parent comment stating that sexual preference isn't protected under Alabama Hate Crimes definition?

Legally, in Alabama, this can't be a hate crime. No point in arguing with each other about what the law is.

Now, I'm curious about how it works if the federal government were to get involved.

there are federal remedies available. It's not a moot point, totally.

          •  Let's see if the Investigators and Prosecutor (0+ / 0-)

Actually pursue the possibility that this is a hate crime and if so, refer it to the Feds.

But, if like some people here, they are afraid to entertain that as a possibility, this mess will probably just end up as another barnyard variety girl with her face bashed in by male assailant case, and if the guy has no priors, he could get off easy.

Happy ending: no one unjustly accused of hate crimes; bloggers satisfied with their objectivity.

'afraid to entertain that [hate crime] as a possibility'. I see many who are unable to entertain other possibilities.
