Aren't the Republicans supposed to be the smart money guys?  Don't they believe in the power of markets to reward performance and punish failure?

I keep thinking there must be some massive post-loss cover-up, complete with talking points about how everyone was confident in a Romney victory.  The Romney team covering its ass, the talking heads covering theirs.

But then I realize, nah, they just had their heads up their asses.  They believed their own bullshit.  Like the rank-and-file true believers at White People Mourning Romney, they simply couldn't imagine that a majority of Americans would in fact vote for President Obama.  That their remarks on true rape and their never-ending focus on white people's grievance were toxic.

The Romney team was so confident -- at the same time they were deploying the failtastic and craptacular ORCA.

Even the elite [sic] talking heads -- they don't get it.

Charles Krauthammer, who watched Little Bush preen for eight years, and now takes every opportunity to write of Obama's arrogance.  Like when Obama flew in a fighter jet to an aircraft carrier to preen about killing Osama Bin Laden.  Oh, wait . . .

Peggy Noonan, who talks with people at cocktail parties in McLean and Arlington, and believes she saw fear and panic as President Obama was leading 20,000 supporters in laughing about Romnesia.

George Will, who even as the outcome on Election Night was becoming apparent, was still declaring that there are twice as many self-professed conservatives as liberals.

    They truly don't get it.

We like to mock Dick Morris -- and we should!  But his is just the tallest, pointiest dunce cap.

    Binders full of fail!

Because they continually tell you they are, and most liberals are just meh about it.

And besides, they never say WHAT they're trying to conserve.

I'd like to conserve the planet, the social network, the safety net, social security, medicare, funding for education, the national parks...

Nothing about these bas+ards is true. Actual conservatives would be appalled at the parts of this "New Conservatism" dealing with LadyParts, foreign entanglements including off-the-books wars of choice, the War on Drugs, industrial subsidies, the PATRIOT ACT, et cetera. Most of the GOP agenda.
They are more accurately called Radicals or better yet, Reactionaries (against the 1776 Revolution).
Or Cons as in Con Artists.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

    •  There is no "clever" in their clever plot (0+ / 0-)

...they just had their heads up their asses.

It's not necessarily because they're boneheaded stupid, although that's part of it. it's more that they're self-terrorists. Their lives are driven at some level by fear and deep-seated insecurity. The absolute critical need is to be in control. Lose control and the World is certain to end.

Ask any recovered alcoholic or addict.

Republicans will go to any length to maintain their own personal grasp of control. Since fear is their primary motivator, they gin up imaginary fears to feed the beast.

It's an awful way to live.

      I pity them.
