If you want to try to compare the spending priorities and taking on debt to "buy" something, think of these options for a homeowner.

New roof (old one leaks), new rifle (because we don't have that one in our (largest collection in the world) yet).

One option is infrastructure, saves money long term and preserves or adds value to the home.

The other option is just designed to satisfy (shut them up) a special interest group in the home.

I think we need to get people to understand the difference between the two, and to realize we already have all the newest guns and the best hunting camps, but the roof is leaking.

Problem is 40 years of messaging that the way to make things better is to tax and spend less, because government can't fix anything.

40 years of messaging very weakly rebutted by our party.

Nearly half the country believes it, the stupid portion of the business sector believes it, while the militarists and financiers use the message to take over most of the country and system for themselves. And they're powerful enough that they have more influence over caucuses of representatives than the caucuses' own parties and leaders. We like to accuse Boehner of being weak but he's got like 40 members who don't even answer to him. And that has nothing to do with him.

We've become formally a democratic oligarchy. We still get to vote, but we have little and declining ability to regulate the oligarchs.

We are called to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for victims of our nation and for those it calls enemy.... --ML King "Beyond Vietnam"
