This ginned-up "scandal" has long been nothing more than a Fox News mini-series ignored or ridiculed by most major media.  It's now simply the isolated datum for a case study in cable news influence over a now more easily identified "conservative entertainment complex" audience.  I see many master's thesis in this "scandal".

    Ho-hum.

As I noted in a diary at the time, it was amazing on Election Night even after Obama had been declared the winner, that Faux News was still harping on the "BEN GHAZI!!" mantra when discussing how this could possibly happen. How could the American public re-elect a man with "BEN GHAZI!!" hanging over his head.

A brave female Democratic strategist appeared on Faux that night and kept getting "BEN GHAZI!!" screamed at her face. Calmly, she said, "The election is over, stop repeating talking points."

It's amazing that Faux, McCain, and the Right Wing noise machine have kept this up. It won't end until Rice is confirmed, sadly.

Even worse, if Hillary runs, four years from now, the first "BEN GHAZI!!" attack ads will be airing.........

I expect Lindsey to keep beating this Benghazi dead horse as long as his Obama bashing keeps polishing his conservative cred.  He's got a real threat of a Teabagger challenging him from the Right in 2014.

Ayotte, on the other hand, seems to simply be getting face time on TV -- a lot for a newcomer -- to solidify her far Right bona fides for the Manchester Union Leader editorial board, and may be repaying John McCain for his support of her 2010 Senate campaign.  That I can understand.

What I don't understand is John McCain's dogged shrillness on this faux scandal.  Can it be that it's only residual resentment of Barack Obama's whipping him in 2008?  I know the man can carry a grudge, but while he's certainly been able to make a fool of himself by going off half-cocked in the past, he's always been loathe to stay on positions that draw ridicule and derision.  That he's re-upped on the outrage after meeting and talking with Ambassador Rice today is kind of baffling to me.

        •  No, for McCain it's personal against Rice (0+ / 0-)

he has deep resentment of her since she was the one criticizing his rashness and other FP faux pas as Obama's the candidate's spokeswoman.

So it's funny how they each have their own, yet different, motivations. How convenient for them that 4 Americans died in service to the US
