    They obviously think they can score points with this manufactured pretextual BS against Rice. They obviously have some major problem with her, but not the problem they're saying. But I can't figure out what it might be.

    The closest explanation I can come up with is that they want Obama to nominate John Kerry because they think they can get Scott Brown back in the Senate.

      from Obama's victory and distract from his agenda. Enough has come out that their central "argument" which was at best a mile-long stretch is now very clearly full of hooey.

      President into going for Kerry, though I can already hear the swift boating outrage that they would milk for all it's worth the moment that happens.

      As long as they see headlines in the press that say 'Rice Fails to Win Over Senators' along with stories like the soundbite I heard on NPR a little while ago: "Susan Rice admitted to providing inaccurate information to the country...'' the more they'll keep flogging the ghost of this dead horse.
