  •  I Have One DVR (9+ / 0-)

Charter thinks I have two other cable boxes. I don't. They charge me for them. It hurts my head.

When opportunity calls pick up the phone and give it directions to your house.

    •  There maybe a solution for that (7+ / 0-)

I forget the exact reason for it but if you have multiple outlets for cable and don't use them they can send false positives back to the provider and they'll charge you for them. Go to where your cable comes in the house and check for a splitter. If you only have one live box and multiple cables coming out of the splitter remove the unused ones and tell them to quit charging you for the phantom signals.

To me progress is not so much a goal as it is a process and I believe it will not follow a straight course. Remember, the drops of water that form the river may not take the shortest path but they will still reach the ocean.

      •  They shouldn't be able to detect how many (3+ / 0-)

outlets you have, and even if they could, they don't charge by the outlet. If you know how to install a new cable jack and are fine with analog basic cable, you are free to install a new jack in your house. You don't have to tell your cable company or pay them a dime for it. You only have to pay if you want to rent a digital cable box.
