  •  World from your eyes (4+ / 0-)

Thousands of students failed out or dropped out of school this year - so teachers are bad.

Hundreds of crimes will be committed and go unsolved just this month - so police are bad.

Every year forrest fires destroy homes and kill people - so trees are bad and fire fighters worse.

Millions of pounds of food will be wasted while others starve - so anyone not starving is bad.

None of us are perfect.  No man, woman or government.  All we can do is start each day trying to make the world a little better.  But if we all concentrated on the bad, there would be no good.

It is well that war is so terrible -- lest we should grow too fond of it. Robert E. Lee

    •  But to be better we must acknowledge the sins (0+ / 0-)

of the past. Like a national act of contrition. If we do not recognize where we went wrong we can not do better in the future. It is not enough to rest on our laurels because we are better than the old Soviet Union. It is not enough to argue that people will always starve and then pat ourselves on the back for making a token effort.
