    we had incredibly dedicated volunteers who worked their asses off, particularly in the final weeks of the campaign when our state was being declared a toss-up (and the local "experts" were predicting Romney would carry Florida by a good margin). Democrats are capable of conducting a successful campaign, but in 2010 their lack of accomplishment (combined with underestimating the danger of a Tea Party takeover) made it difficult to get volunteers or get voters to the polls. What we found in 2012 is that it is possible to get Democrats to vote, but you've got to call the recalcitrant ones (or knock on their doors) at least 10 times.

    Of course the fact that most "Occupy" groups outside of New York had disbanded meant that the major opportunity for progressives in 2012 was joining the Obama campaign (as well as campaigns for other progressive Democratic candidates).
