a lot of people in this country never realize who did these things.  They blame the party that holds the White House.  They don't know that it was the Republicans in the House who forced it.

Democrats could manage this better but they don't.

For instance, they could set up a deal that renews extended employment for as long as the unemployment rate is above a certain number -- yes, they can't do the money part but they could extract an agreement that it will be extended as long as unemployment is high and avoiding the hostage taking every single time.  They could go out to the country and use that bully pulpit. This president is good at that when it is something he really wants.  But when it's something for the people?  Not so much.  I blame the Ds for what looks like deliberate mismanagement of this.  If you lose a piece of something important every time you have to renew the extended benefits and this unemployment rate is going to be high for the long term, things will get chopped over and over and over until there is nothing left, all to extend some temporary benefits.  I can't think of a good analogy at the moment but it's just horrible management of the things that are valuable to the people. Like selling off pieces of your house for gas money.
