    ...throw them an anvil.

Here's the anvil: We need to point out that it is a Threat To National Security to have the military petroleum supply controlled by a criminal corporation and a foreign criminal corporation at that.

(Yeah, I know that technically BP isn't foriegn. But they ain't American neither!)

The military should build their own government-run, non-profit refinery. This will protect the critical supply and also permanently deny profits to BP and their ilk.

It will also send a message to these corporations: "We don't need you".

That would be a damn sight better and a lot more honorable than invading other countries to secure mere access...

of course, not covered by the corporate media, but the Commander-in-Chief has been doing something even better: large-scale field-testing of alternative energies that have been suppressed for decades.

It started, as far as I know, with solar backpacks in Afghanistan, which were safer and less expensive than having traditional fuel hauled. He's now using all branches of the military, including alternative fuels for ships and planes as well as solar.

Here's a description of the Army's Net Zero pilot program, which aims to create as much energy as it uses, produce zero waste, and manage water appropriately. Here's a specific story from 2011 about the 2 Gig solar installation at Fort Carson, Colo..

Maybe we can do with fewer refineries and less oil -- since that oil itself is a threat to our national security.
