  •  Yes, Obama did not "produce" a blue House (0+ / 0-)

He did not win 25 Congressional races, only 8.

Romney should have lost by more than 10 points because .... why?

And our party should find a way to "intervene" in the state economies of the South and West -- where the federal government already "intervenes" to the tune of almost 2X as much per $ of (median) income as in most blue states.

What type and level of additional "intervention" do you recommend?

    •  Personalized as in Ohio. (0+ / 0-)

When people got work during the New Deal they knew who to thank, 1936 was not a close contest. Ohioans knew who to thank this year. But it is a battleground state. If Dem policy failures and 2010 prevented wider margins nationally, then 5% was still a stat the GOP can be proud of with a deeply flawed challenger against a strong incumbent. They spent four years to get it close, Romney just wasn't a closer. From a GOP perpective they still de facto control Congress and run the Court, and ran up their popularity in the red states. The 50 state Dean momentum is stopped. They control states they should not, given their record. 2012 could be the Dem high water if changes in Dem strategy are not forthcoming. The GOP astutely points to where the Dem vulnerabilities are.

"Personalized" is a good idea, but what does it mean in terms of policy?

with lots of projects named after prominent Dems, however FDR taught LBJ to do it. Could start by adding back the lost state jobs who are basically Obama's base. Their unemployment is disgraceful and should be remedied immediately.

Obama rescued existing industry. He did not impose industry where it did not exist. Does he air-drop a Ford factory on the outskirts of Las Vegas?

This is a structural problem resulting, at least in part, from decades of trade and tax policies, for which there is no immediate remedy, and no remedy a President can impose. But certainly Obama can use the bully pulpit to press for infrastructure improvement, changes to business tax incentives, etc.
