    you call a vacation?

Travel has never been a part of my budget and is unlikely to ever be.  I was only able to go to NN12 this year, because it was close enough for a train ride and I got a bonus at the end of the fiscal year that paid the fare and the hotel room.

My best friend lives in Berlin, and I haven't back there in 17 years, so I'd love a visit.  But I no longer have any travel documents (reapplying for a passport is one of those bureaucratic traumas that triggers heavy bouts of depression) and it's just too expensive.

My travels are now just organized around business trips, or small gifts (usually from my son's dads).  In those instances, I don't really get to pick, just develop the skills to multipurpose other trips into something that can be "holiday-like".

An actual vacation seems out of my reach.

My dream is to take my son on an extended road trip vacation through the Pacific Northwest before he graduates from high school.  Don't know if I'll be able to pull that off in the next 2.5 years or not.

    •  I would love to help you with a ticket to Berlin.. (0+ / 0-)

as the saying goes, after 30 years I still have "einen Koffer in Berlin". Though I know the Berlin I knew is bygone. I myself would like to go as well, though it will be a terrible trip down memory lane and I am scared to then not finding anymore what I was looking for. Most of the people I knew are dead now.

I don't know your stories in case you wrote them here way back then ... but it sounds to me like a blessing if your son has several dads. If I may say so, it could be something to be grateful for, but of course I could be totally off the topic. Just saying, better two dads than none, no?

BTW, I never went on a so-called vacation. I travelled a lot accompanying my former husband or I just to visited family. Both were not real vacations, but I saw a lot of places. That too is history.

Once I tried to do "vacations" and took a cruise. Not my kind of spending time and money for sure.

Before I travel to places, I have to find my home. All I want is cuddle in my permanent resting quarters, sleep, do nothing and read til I have the urge to get up ... and rediscover the world again. :)
