    The companies would probably save more money outsourcing top management jobs to those who could manage it better at a lower cost.

    Back in the 50's Chrysler during one of its periodic crises fired two thirds of its management personnel instead of its skilled workers. The company recovered almost immediately and wouldn't you know it, it hired back the same people that caused its problems in the first place.
