    just as long as it is broken into 10 minute bits. In middle school, or even when teaching adults, I find it essential to "chunk it up" with opportunities for physical activity, for participation in small groups, for hands-on work, etc. There are some habits of mind that need to be developed by kids to let them be productive in this kind of environment. I am quite convinced that TeacherKen is on that path with his students.

    Finally, note that longer class periods are easier in a team teaching situation. No teacher should teach alone, IMHO.

    •  Yep, though putting 300+ students in a classroom (0+ / 0-)

      into manageable time or activity chunks would have been a bit difficult.  And university undergrads are a tough audience!
      (homemade cookies every couple of weeks seemed to help)
