    Pointing and pulling a trigger isn't. Which is why we kill more people by accident driving than we do by shooting them on purpose.

    It may take weeks to produce a competent driver.  It takes minutes to produce a competent gun owner (or reject a prospect outright).

      A the average civilian firearm has, at most, 4 simple on/off switches/buttons/levers required for legal operation.

      The average car has a minimum of 6, at least 4 of which are massively variable, all dependant on environmental conditions, in concert with multiple other operators at varying speeds, most of whose operators understand little to nothing about the hundreds of moving parts involved in each machine, or the basic physics involved, or the operating limits of their machines.

      Yeah, I'll trust random gun owners over random car owners almost any time.
