  •  Reloading (7+ / 0-)

Currently, I split my time in the garage between reloading and painting gaming miniatures. It keeps me busy and out of the Missus' way ... which seems to be fine by her.

Anyhow, I grew up smack dab in the middle of red-neck Central Valley California ... in between Bakersfield and Fresno California, out on a farm, in the middle of no where. The gun culture is / was very strong where I grew up.

I left guns when I started a family in the early 1980's. I started back in about three years ago or so. I can tell you this, it is very much like meeting an old friend. It is amazing how you can pick all of this stuff back up after such a long hiatus!

I am also a member of the NRA. I think more progressive / liberal folk should join ... maybe then the culture of the NRA can change ... it did briefly during the 1990's ... then it swung very hard right.

    No more gooper LITE!

    •  I've been tempted to do so (0+ / 0-)

but then I went to an 'open house' at the local NRA-ILA's clubhouse (which they closed after the election).

To say I was out-numbered by Tea Partiers is an understatement.

It did, however, give me the impetus I needed to start the Dem Gun Owners' Caucus of Missouri.  I plan on doing much more with that org (and the other Caucuses around the nation) than I could get done as a 'fifth columist' inside the NRA.
