    were ever serious about balancing the budget, they would be gleefully skipping right off the fiscal curb. It is, ultimately, a large reduction of the deficit. If anyone in Washington was serious about the debt, then this wouldn't be an issue, the bush tax cuts would have expired last year. All of them. If they republicans were serious about debt reduction, they never would have passed the Bush Tax Cuts in the first place, they would have rode Clinton's surplus into the black, and probably done real damage to an economy where there isn't any more American debt to buy, but that's a whole other issue.

    Luckily, no one is serious about balancing the budget. I just wish republicans would stop lying to their constituents about it. It isn't good for those they represent, or the nation at large.
