  •  I'm so glad to hear this!! (6+ / 0-)

So far my sister's kids are ok, but she and her new husband, who's Navy, just had another. And with my son as relation her kids are at higher risk than they would other be, statistically speaking. I know other families with autistic kids who are military as well, and this will help them.

This is great news Nurse Kelley, thank you!

    •  Happy to pass it along, my friend. (9+ / 0-)

      From the press release:

To ensure that military families have the care they need, Senator Gillibrand’s amendment would require TRICARE to meet the minimum threshold of basic care, cover behavioral treatment for developmental disabilities, including autism, modeled after national standards, and lift the financial cap on care. More than 30 states already have laws in place that require private insurers to cover ABA as a medically necessary health service and starting next year, federal civilian employees may see ABA-inclusive health benefits. [emphasis added]
Our military families, whether active duty, reserve, or retired, should get BETTER benefits than the standard of care. It makes my stomach hurt when elected idiots like McCain - who has been on the federal tit his entire life, in one way or another - vote against adequate healthcare for our military.
