Where is the big, outside the box thinking that we need to move things off the dime?  Proposing what is an obvious non-starter with the opposition is a poor opening gambit.

We are right back where we were before the Fiscal Cliff gun was put to the collective heads of Congress (by their own hands, BTW) to get the last deal.

FDR did some crazy sh#t to change the game.   This President's legacy can't be that he gave us more of the same.   It can't be.

The white house is telling the republicans that if they want cuts, they are the ones that have to detail the cuts.  It forces them to put their cards on the table, and to own the cuts that they want.  It is not Obamas job to detail the cuts that the republicans want, it's theirs.  It forces THEM to negotiate with themselves over cuts that they know that their constituents are going to hate, and to come to the table with a plan that they think they can pass.

    •  Wrong! This is the best way possible to start (0+ / 0-)

negotiations with the current group of obstructionist whiners he's dealing with. They wouldn't take his modest offer of just voting on the extension of middle class tax rates now and working on the other stuff next year so now he's playing hardball for once. It'll be fun to watch Boehner come groveling back at the last minute asking for just a an extension of the middle class tax rates in exchange for no stimulus or defense cuts!

Let's not let 2014 be anything like 2010. Republicans only win when we stay home!
