  •  So why do you only bold the ideas suit you? (3+ / 0-)

It includes raising the Medicare eligibility age and "premium support" which is the Ryan plan in the list.

The fact of the matter is that we are being totally kept in the dark on what the final offer is going to be and that is not good.  We do not know how far Democrats are wiling to go to eviscerate Medicare and if that is not their intention they could as I have been saying for months simply state a clear position.

Just like Franken - two requests for money already just this week and can I get one simple answer on Social Security and Medicare?  Of course not.

    I don't want spin.  I want answers.

I bold what's in Simpson-Bowles because it's the stuff that is NOT being talked about with regard to S-B that is of interest. The unbolded stuff ids talked about all the time (and note it's not ranked by usefulness.)

It is helpful information, especially point #1 about S-B recommending waiting on Medicare discussion.

      That's the apples.

You are talking about oranges: current fiscal cliff discussions as to what will happen. We do not know how that will pan out but here's what we do know:

      • Privatizing Medicare is not on the table for discussion because elections have consequences and Paul Ryan lost.
      • The tax cuts expire if nothing is done.

As to what happens next, you don't know because no one knows.

They just aren't saying because they don't want opposition until it is too late.

        •  no, they don't know (1+ / 0-)

they'd only know if Ds control both houses.

Not a bad thing you're asking for, mind you. ;-)

But you're demanding something that doesn't yet exist, which is why you haven't gotten it, nor will you prior to serious negotiations.
