  •  I hate the Democrats (almost as much as the Rs) (9+ / 0-)

they lie. DMW upthread asks why Feinstein is wrong on the big things but good on the little things. It's a game they play. Each Democratic senator is good on most issues but plays the villain at key times. Feinstein, Schumer, Wyden, Levin....and then, when you want to hate them, they come through with a good vote, only to lose out because some other Democrat takes his or her turn, like Claire McCaskill, for example.

It's infuriating and suggests that, as a team, they don't want to accomplish what we've been led to believe is the Democratic agenda. We see it over and over and apparently we're too dumb to notice the trick.

Having said that, of course the Republicans are worse. They lie too and they're worse liars. Either that or they're really dumb because they can't possibly believe the things they say.

Anyway, on this issue, filibuster reform, I'm pretty much convinced that it won't happen because the Democrats don't want it. They'll make a show of it but somehow, with a majority, they'll lose votes from their own side, "as a matter of principle".

Reid on filibuster reform and wants it to be reformed.

      Elizabeth Warren is pushing hard.

Specifically, it's to stop being "brand loyal" to particular senators & reward ONLY the ones who CONSISTENTLY vote for the progressive agenda.

The "villianous tag-team" would disappear after a few cycles if the Dem senators knew they had a long-memoried base willing to primary their bacon off any time they played Quisling.

of Republicans in office enacting their conservative agenda of austerity and protecting the wealthy instead of Democrats doing it.

It's better when Democrats fuck the rest of us because their mouths make the right noises while they're doing it and some of them even have a look of self-loathing or distaste for their colleagues while it happens. Compare that to the Republicans, who practically froth at the mouth with glee over the prospect of squeezing another penny out of thousands of the poor so their wealthy pals can be spared from paying another 0.01% of their net wealth in taxes next year.

...& the rest of the 2010 blowout.

          We as progressives win when:
          1. progressive Democrats fight for the progressive agenda, &
          2. the DINO love-me-I'm-a-liberals are afraid NOT to fight for it.

Simply put, if you don't want to see closet Republicans replaced by real Republicans, then put your support & money behind real Democrats — & fight to win.
