    Of there is ONE thing the past four years have taught us, it's that the GOP have adopted a position of "no compromising" best described by Richard Mourdock after he won the GOP Primaries in Indiana:

    "For me, bi-partisanship means getting the Democrats to agree with 100% of Republican positions".

    Peggy, it takes two to tango, and Tip O'Neil was willing to tango. Boehnor, McConnell and most other current Republicans are not. They've had provisions inserted in various Democrats proposed bills, only to then vote them down with 0% vote in Congress.

    One can't negotiate with bad faith. It's worse than negotiating with blackmailers and kidnappers: you can only trust their will NOT hold their end of the bargain or keep their word. That's why they are blackmailers and kidnappers in the first place!
