            •  Thank you! There in excess of 10,000 images to ... (6+ / 0-)

sort through.....last year, as insurance, I bought a 3 Terabyte external hard drive, and backed everything up from the main PC (The condo is wifi-ed, and encrypted, so the two PCs, the laptop and the netbook live very happily, together!)

Seriously, if you have a favourite aircraft of weapon system, let me know. Last trip I took shots of everthing from an RAF Bloodhound (early air defence guided missile) to an Airspeed Ambassador piston-engined airliner to a Royal Navy Phantom to the very last WW2 Fairey Fulmar!

              •  As a Canadian, (4+ / 0-)

I'd love to see an insightful history presented about the Avro Arrow -- a truly innovative fighter/interceptor design from the late 1950's that foundered on the shoals of international politics of the Cold-War Era.  It's demise remains shrouded in the secrecy of the times.

Thanks for a great diary and Kos Group.

For but one link with a good illustration of the Arrow's Delta Wing design: Avro Arrow Mysteries

...a superb design. I have, of course, seen 'The Arrow' starring one of the aircraft's biggest supporters - Dan Ackroyd - and it is hardly surpising that no Hollywood studio would touch the script!

The situation (forced abandonment of a highly competitive jet aircraft) could be said to be paralleled in the fate of the U.K's TSR.2

The U.K. was promised a version of the F.111 (F.111K) which itself fell by the wayside.

Sadly, I do not have a photograph of the CASM's replica (or original nose section or wing panels).

I DO have some photographs of the IWM's (much earlier) CF.100 Canuck, and will feature that, later.

      •  I've made a small change to the 'running order'... (0+ / 0-)

... and I'm sure my Editor will forgive (crosses fingers). I'm sneaking in a couple of American items, one commonplace (an F6F), and one ultimately rare (a Howard 500).

The reason I wanted to flag this up is that the Howard 500 diary carries with it a poll. This way you will be able to indicate your preferences as we move forward.

I promise to take these into account, with the occasional choice to suit the mood!
