found it so moving to see everyday people step in and take things in hand as the Occupy folk have. I am concerned, however, about the risks involved in accepting and distributing donations this way. Surely most of the gifts and useful and sincere, but I keep thinking about those infested blankets past to Native Americans.  As much as bureaucracy  and administrative expense of major organizations frustrate me, I do feel like having useful items provided straight from manufacture is less risky for those in need.

Does anyone know how risks are being addressed? Not just of deliberate attempts to contaminate food, bedding, clothing, etc., but of passing out unintentionally tarnished items as well?

I continue to make small money donations to these direct actions but hope to learn more about precautions made.

    Thanks.
