  •  They're being evicted (19+ / 0-)

They are not being stopped from distributing things.  I don't think they could stop them.

And the bureaucracy you're talking about exists and is what failed thousands and thousands of people.  It's the same bureaucracy that's telling people in Staten Island that they have 15 day to demolish their house.  The same one that left people to fend for themselves.

And you want people to just trust that they'll do the right thing and kick out the people we know have been doing the right thing.

The revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.

trusting anyone to do the right thing. I really messed up in that opening sentence, didn't mean I support the eviction, I support Occupy's action to help communities that established charities have failed.

I was expressing my concern about contamination of items donated through an ad hoc arrangement and asking if there a methods for protecting against communicable diseases, etc., acknowledging that one reason large charities are sluggish is the process of raising funds and purchasing supplies rather than accepting and distributing donated goods.

And of course I understand it was government that distributed a lot of infected blankets, government and other entities that gave poisoned gifts deliberately. It's not a stretch to look at the country and speculate that during disasters like Sandy something similar -- by accident or design -- could happen to effected communities.

I love that Occupy has taken just an effective action, that everyday people are supporting one another, rebuilding bonds of  trust needed to take on the enormous political and environmental challenges we all face.

Don't ask me nothin' about nothin'. I just might tell ya the truth -- B. Dylan
