  •  How are you marinading? (8+ / 0-)

And then what will you do with the turkey?

I have some odds and ends of food in my fridge. We rarely throw food away, but sometimes that means creative eating.

Right now I have most of a cup of pumpkin puree and somewhat more than that of jarred alfredo sauce. There are mushrooms, too. (I know, I know, but I use it as the "base" sauce when I make macaroni and cheese.) So for supper I think I'll make pumpkin alfredo sauce and pasta. Also lots of salad fixings, so that can be our side dish.

When I have mushrooms I won't use soon enough, I clean them, slice them, and freeze them. Ready to go for cooking later.

has lemon juice, some oil, maple syrup, shallots, garlic, and lemon zest, and it is now soaking breast down in a large plastic bag in the fridge. Tomorrow I take it out, put a mixture of butter, syrup, lemon juice and zest, and black pepper under the skin, then I roast it.  I will stuff it with a caramelized onion and sourdough stuffing.  Then I will eat it with mashed potatoes and gravy and rolls tomorrow night.  I'm making real cranberry sauce, too. Hmmm... I seem to have forgotten something green. Oh well! ;-)

This is because all the leftovers disappeared quickly from Thanksgiving dinner, having been split several ways.  I do this every year.

Leftovers are always sandwiches, then Tetrazzini, then soup.

      •  I bought a turkey breast on Friday (7+ / 0-)

because I never get turkey leftovers. Because we have EVERY holiday dinner with Jim's extended family, about 2 hours from here. And dammit sometimes I want turkey, too!

But I'm not crazy about reheated turkey slices, which is what we have at the family dinners. There are MANY family members -- he is one of 9 sibs and most of them and offspring still live in the area. So a small gathering is about 40 people. A couple of people make turkey ahead and then bring it to reheat.

If that is turkey, I prefer ham. So I take good ham. So there IS good ham. I am a snob...

ANYWAY, I like turkey when just roasted and also when used as leftovers in turkey tetrazzini, and other choices like that.

Not sure when I will cook mine. It is waiting for me now in the freezer. Still a few other things that need to be used first.
