  •  I can't agree more! LED are the best things ever (6+ / 0-)

for anyone who is serious about Christmas lights.  All the things elmo says are true: they don't burn out after you've put them up, they use less energy and they don't dry out your tree.

My big find last year was I finally found some random twinkle LED lights for my indoor tree.  Not flashing--random twinkle ones!  Christmas bliss!

My best purchase for outdoor decorations, however, were the kind of timers that have a light sensor in them.  The lights come on automatically when it gets dark enough and I can set them to go off after 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours after that.  On Christmas Eve we go out and reset them so they stay on all help Santa, of course!

    •  I hate my LEDs (0+ / 0-)

They are way too bright and way too white.  (There are probably better types, but not for $5.99 at CVS.) I hate them, but I turned in the old set when I bought them. So probably I won't have lights this year.
