  •  I watched a DVD about Rumi (6+ / 0-)

which was pretty interesting, though it had too many talking heads.

My aunt bought me a recording of La Boheme when I was about 5, and I love opera, but I actually haven't been listening to or watching opera lately, for some unknown reason.

I think watching a DVD about a 13th century Sufi poet whirling dervish seriously qualifies me for the SNLC. There was some whirling, and I would have preferred to just watch the whirling and listen to the music and poetry.

    •  I have a book of his poems (5+ / 0-)

but I am not good about listening to talking heads.  Hubby loves that kind of thing on PBS.

As far as qualifying for SNLC, I suppose on the esoteric scale, you're in range.  But otherwise .... :)

Opera does demand a lot of dedication, not least in terms of time.  You can spend a lot of time on YT tracking down opera selections, even those whole acts like the links above.  And this is the good stuff on YT, not the dumb stuff that most people watch or post.
