  •  She is good fuel for Democratic ire! (0+ / 0-)

does she not fire up the Democratic base - and show up the GOP?

Maybe her silence is a mixed blessing

    •  The first time I heard someone say that... (0+ / 0-) was a local Dem, here in Minnesota--in 2006. That was before there was such a thing as "the tea party;" before the stream of Bachmann-like candidates entered national politics.

The passion (and fundraising) that she stimulate in Dems was far outweighed by the damage she did to the country--as a successful role model for the entry of extremism into the GOP. She proved it could be done: a right wing extremist could defeat estab Republicans in a primary contest in a GOP leaning district. And that right wing extremist in that GOP leaning district could go on to win a seat in government (national or state or local.)

We saw this happen over and over again, all around the country. That's how the crazy got into government and took the Congress away from Democrats at a midterm election (with the help of conservative broadcasting and the Christian Right.) That was a horrible outcome. The ire she raised among Dems and liberals and progressives didn't matter, compared to that outcome.
