  •  I LOVE ASIAN GROCERIES (5+ / 0-)

So. So much. I am lucky to live in an area with several. One leans more Viet/SE Asian, one more Japanese and one more Korean (HMart, where you can buy kimchi fridges). HMart also carries the best seasoned nori for snacking.

So yes, Asian groceries are great for spices. :)

Monterey, CA. This is a wonderful area for Asian groceries and restaurants. I was in an ordinary grocery store yesterday and discovered they carry lemon grass - something I've never found any other place I've lived.

I've been cooking Chinese and Indian food forever. My next food adventures will be in the Thai direction. There are several little hole in the wall Thai restaurants in this area, all of them serving some mighty tasty stuff. I am soooo lucky!

Surrounded by great Asian food, especially Thai and Viet. At home when we cook specifically Asian it tends to be Japanese or SE Asian fusion.

        •  Sounds yummy (Asian fusion). All the larger cities (1+ / 0-)

might have a specialty Asian market or two if they have a significant Asian population -- I've got to get the courage to walk into one sometime; we've got 99 Ranch Market which is the Safeway of the Asian markets, but there are plenty of smaller outlets in downtown Mountain View and a lot of Indian markets here in the Silly Con Valley. (Mexican markets like La Puebla also a good place to find unique ingredients.)
