They do not disprove the whole rule.

Leaving a sacrifice for the gods is not the same as throwing out tons of food, or leaving the tap running 2/7/365.

    Be sane, please.

simply because there are many exceptions to your imposed rule (I know dozens of veterans suffering with PTSD - I have been in groups at the Tampa VA Hospital for a few years - many must have lights on at night).  There are many adults who do need to leave lights on at night.  Your
policing of that in your neighborhood - because lights offend your environmental sensitivity - is unreasonable.

I respect our sublime universe.  I love mother earth.  I do not think your policing is helpful.

but the letter stated that the lights were on during the day in a garage.

For what it's worth, I didn't view as policing. Information was provided and nothing more. What the receiver chooses to do with that information is up to them.

In the cases of someone with PTSD, of course there is going to be understanding but the person initiating the exchange has no way of knowing that is the case. In that situation, if handled respectfully by both parties, I believe the exchange of information could go both ways.

In all my years as a skywatcher, moving to many different communities and dealing with many different neighbors, I've never had an issue when I respectfully requested darkness to pursue my hobby.

I do not accept our exchange as a pie fight.  I am providing you information from my years of life experience and my wisdom.  What you choose to do with it is up to you.  It is not a so called "pie fight."

even those of us who are patronizing and arrogant can learn from the wisdom and perspectives of others who have different or opposing understandings/viewpoints.  Calling these exchanges "pie fights" diminishes them.
