  •  Creepy (4+ / 0-)

The recipient of the note might find it annoying and unpleasant.  But the writer is very clear about where he lives (he is a neighbor) and how he comes to drive by the lit-up garage (on his way to and from work).  The "consequences" that are mentioned are clearly the financial costs of leaving the lights on and the costs in using up earth's resources.  I don't see anything threatening bodily harm to anyone -- not even hinted at no matter how you squint at the note.

I actually tend to agree with some of your points.  But filing a police report, etc., etc., strikes me as overreacting.

Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.

    •  What you find merely "annoying and unpleasant"... (4+ / 0-)

...others (such as myself) may perceive as creepy and threatening because of their background, experience, family status, and general condition. It's my job to keep my family safe, and that includes reporting situations where I feel threatened. It's up to the police to determine if I'm overreacting.

And it's none of Jim's god damn business what kind of lights I use, why I use them, or for how long I use them.

      •  Unless you, AaronA, are the one who got Jim's note (0+ / 0-)'s none of Jim's god damn business what kind of lights I use.
Jim hasn't tried to tell you, AaronA, what kind of lights to use. Therefore, it is none of your business what Jim wrote, in his letter or in this diary. Your conduct here has been uncivil and personally insulting to the diarist. If you bother to reply to this comment, please ensure that your reply includes an apology to Jim, the diarist, for your rude, insulting, and pejorative statements about him. Reply without an apology and I'll forward it to site admin. Consider this your final warning in this diary, where you have broken several site rules by your behavior in this thread.

Enough fossil fuel remains on Earth to warm it 6 degrees C by 2100 AD if it is all used. A +6 C planet will only sustain half a billion humans. Human population will rise to 9 billion by 2050. Any questions?
